Grannie Annie gets its name from Sarah Ann Thomas, affectionately known as Ms. Annie. She migrated to Antigua from Montserrat in 1960 and became known for her culinary skills. While she mastered multiple dishes, she was most famous for her pepper sauce. This recipe was passed on to her firstborn grandson at the age of 8, who has continued the tradition keeping the original recipe.
Grannie Annie is a medley of six varieties peppers, two of which gives it its heat while the other four adds flavour, character and body to the sauce.
Peppers for Grannie Annie are made with one day old harvested produce grown using age old techniques by the Nyabinghi Tribe of Antigua, under a Fair Trade and Share Cropping agreement.
The harmonious balance between heat and flavour compliments just about any meal or dish. Grannie Annie Pepper Sauce contains no colouring, gum or added preservatives.
